Civil / Environmental Engineer
Minneapolis, MN 

System One is currently seeking a  Civil / Environmental Engineer on a 12 month contract position located in Minneapolis, MN. 

Civil / Environmental Engineer Responsibilities: 

• The scope of the work/project involves environmental projects and assessments at multiple sites related to Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR). 
• Conduct assessments at all facilities to identify the presence of coal ash.
• Determine if coal ash is impacting groundwater, rivers, streams, etc.
• Document findings and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. 
• Develop specific projects to address issues identified during the assessment phase. 
• Plan substantial civil works required at the sites. 
• Manage the execution of projects to remove coal ash and migrate its impact. 
• Ensure all projects comply with EPA or MPCA regulations. 
• Manage the project from assessment phase through to development and execution. 
• Interact with project team members and the environmental services group. 
• Manage consultants on site, including reviewing submittals and handling the accounting and commercial management of contracts. 
• Participate in meetings and collaborating with the supply chain tea, on contracts as the role develops. 
• Weekly site visits to Becker, MN to interact with the environmental team and engineers. 
• Monthly or biweekly visits to other locations for inspections and meetings.
• Overall, the role will evolve over time, with an initial focus on managing consultants and reviewing submittals, transitioning to more site visits and collaboration with the supply chain team.

Civil / Environmental Engineer Requirements: 

• Background in civil or environmental engineering with knowledge of civil works and environmental regulations.
• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• 8 - 10 years experience in civil or environmental engineering. 
• Experience with earthwork and environmental compliance, preferably for utilities or consulting firms. 
• Experince in project management or commercial management, particularly managing consulting contracts. 
• Proficiency in basic office software, including Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint. 
• Ability to view and understand technical documentation, with familiarity in repository systems like ProjectWise and Documentum being beneficial.
• Valid Drivers License and reliable means of transportation.
• Strong collaborative skills, as the position involves working with multiple groups. 

Duration: 12 months 
Location:  Minneapolis, MN 
Pay Rate: $70-75/hr
