About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Vet Assistant to join our team at the Animal Hospital of Putnam in Putnam, CT. As a Vet Assistant, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to our animal patients and supporting our veterinary team. Your major end result will be to ensure that our patients receive the highest quality care and attention, while also maintaining a clean and organized work environment. You will play a critical role in helping our hospital run smoothly and efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with animals in a veterinary or animal care setting for 1 year
  • Ability to lift and restrain animals as needed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Veterinary Assistant
  • Experience with Cornerstone software

Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
  • Perform routine procedures such as blood draws, catheter placement, and administering medications
  • Maintain accurate medical records and assist with patient discharge instructions
  • Clean and maintain equipment and facilities to ensure a safe and sanitary environment
  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients and assist with front desk duties as needed

Skills:

As a Vet Assistant, you will use your strong communication and interpersonal skills to provide exceptional care to our animal patients and their owners. You will also use your attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate medical records and keep our facilities clean and organized. Your ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously will be essential to your success in this role. Additionally, your experience working with animals and knowledge of veterinary procedures will allow you to provide valuable support to our veterinary team.
