Role & Responsibilities:
As a Brokerage Entry Writer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the import operations by ensuring that all customs entries are accurately processed. Your key responsibilities will include:
Performing data entry for customs entries and ensuring accurate ISF filing for all ocean shipments.
Assisting with product classifications for all customs brokerage shipments and supporting in-bond entries and bonded shipments.
Helping to manage excess shipments within the Import Department.
Auditing and reviewing assigned brokerage files and payments to ensure they comply with customs regulations.
Properly classifying commercial invoices using the US Tariff Book and CROSS as reference tools.
Entering AMS import information and HTS codes, including transmission to US Customs.
Preparing and filing entry documentation, including 7501 and 3461 forms.
Specializing in remote location filing to maintain efficiency and compliance.
Assisting with maintaining compliance measures for import operations and ensuring proper documentation.
Ensuring that all processes align with U.S. Customs standards and regulations.
Managing both delivery and invoicing of services rendered related to import accounts.
Filing ISFs within the required 72-hour timeframe before shipments leave the last origin port.
Preparing delivery orders, coordinating with truckers, and ensuring timely follow-up with Proof of Delivery (POD).
Processing documents through the company's ABI system to obtain Customs release and other necessary government agency approvals.
Reviewing and monitoring all Customs rejections and requests for information to ensure timely resolutions.
Other duties as assigned by management to support the team.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in handling customs brokerage operations.
Basic understanding of freight forwarding processes.
In-depth knowledge of customs compliance and regulations.
Familiarity with importation procedures into the U.S.
Previous experience working in freight forwarding and handling entries that include PGA (Partner Government Agency) information.
Proven ability to file ISFs accurately and in a timely manner.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external clients.
