Expedition Tax and Accounting Services is an established West Des Moines accounting firm dedicated to providing exceptional tax preparation, planning, and consulting services to individuals and businesses. We strive to produce a high-quality tax experience with a transparent pricing structure.

Expedition Tax and Accounting Services is looking for an experienced Tax Specialist to provide expert representation and support to our tax clients. In this role, you will work closely with individual and business clients to accurately prepare and file tax returns while identifying tax savings and compliance opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts

• Review client financial records for accuracy and completeness to maximize client outcome

• Respond to client inquiries and resolve tax-related issues

• Assist in audits by gathering and organizing supporting documentation

• Assess and research difficult tax issues to identify solutions and recommend strategies

• Generate business growth and increase client retention

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field

• Enrolled Agent certification is preferred or ability to earn within 9 months of employment

• 2+ years of tax preparation experience

• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax codes

• Registration with the IRS and a valid PTIN

• Experience reconciling and balancing transactional activities of a complex nature

Skills

• Proficiency with ProSeries and QuickBooks

• Strong analytical skills to identify tax-saving opportunities

• Outstanding communication and client service skills

• Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple clients and deadlines

• Efficiently and effectively work under pressure

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in handling sensitive client information

Compensation: $50,000 - $65,000 based on experience

Position Type: Full-time, In-Office
