Job Description

Are you a dedicated and compassionate Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) looking for a flexible, remote opportunity? This contract position allows you to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students with visual impairments by providing specialized virtual instruction and support. Work from the comfort of your home while helping students achieve their academic and functional goals.

Responsibilities:

Provide remote direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments.

Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to students' visual needs.

Collaborate virtually with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to support student development.

Instruct students on the use of assistive technology and adaptive materials in a virtual learning environment.

Conduct virtual assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed.

Stay informed on best practices and emerging trends in the education of students with visual impairments.

Current Caseload:

Two students receiving VI services:

One student receiving 30 minutes per week (MPW)

One student receiving 15 minutes per week (MPW)

One student scheduled for a functional vision assessment as part of their next evaluation. If they qualify, VI services will be added to their next IEP.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education with a focus on Visual Impairments or a related field.

Valid Missouri teaching certification for Teaching Visually Impaired (TVI) students.

Knowledge of braille, low vision aids, and assistive technology for visually impaired students in remote learning environments.

Experience developing IEPs and working with students with visual impairments.

Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with families, school staff, and students in a virtual setting.
