Position Overview:
As a Remote TVI, you will work with students who have visual impairments, delivering individualized instruction and support in a virtual learning environment. Your role will be essential in fostering students' independence and success by incorporating assistive technology, adaptive materials, and tailored educational strategies into their learning plans.
Responsibilities:
Provide virtual direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments.
Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to address students' unique needs.
Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families through virtual meetings to ensure students receive comprehensive support.
Teach students how to use assistive technology and adaptive materials effectively.
Conduct remote assessments to track progress and adjust teaching methods as needed.
Stay updated on the latest best practices and educational tools for teaching visually impaired students.
Current Caseload:
2 students receiving VI services:
One receiving 30 minutes per week (MPW)
One receiving 15 minutes per week (MPW)
1 student awaiting a functional vision assessment as part of their next evaluation. If the student qualifies, VI services will be incorporated into their next IEP.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education with a focus on Visual Impairments or a related field.
Valid Missouri teaching certification for Teaching Visually Impaired (TVI) students.
Proficiency in braille, low vision aids, and assistive technology for visually impaired students in a virtual setting.
Experience working with students with visual impairments and developing IEPs.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with students, families, and school staff remotely.
