GHD is seeking a Project Manager & Team Lead - Water Treatment to join our team based in one of our Bay Area, CA offices to support work across California. We are seeking someone with experience in the evaluation, planning, and/or design of potable water treatment infrastructure projects, including proposal, scope and fee development, alternatives analysis; preliminary and process design; treatment facilities design; and engineering services during construction. We are working on some of the most cutting-edge programs in the U.S., including exciting IPR (Indirect Potable Reuse), desalination, and advanced oxidation projects. As a Project Manager and Team Lead, you will provide design guidelines, technical oversight, project engineering and management services, client management, and business development relating to Potable Water projects. Further, you will have the opportunity to lead a team in sophisticated and innovative projects, support in the training and mentorship of engineers and other technicians, and become part of our regional leadership team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Lead and coordinate project teams in the development of reports, planning studies, specifications, detailed design drawings, and other technical deliverables for treatment and infrastructure-related projects. Lead potable water treatment planning and detailed design of conventional and advanced technologies such as filtration, desalination, UVAOP process modeling, process design, equipment design, and integration. Distribute and oversee the work of subordinate technical staff and engineers. Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional organization meetings. Communicate effectively and coordinate with clients on projects during planning, design, and construction. Lead and support proposals, and scope and fee development; assist with business development pursuits. Develop and maintain client relationships. Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and regulators to help create successful projects. Provide mentorship and development support to junior level staff. Manage GHD’s client contact plan for key project positioning efforts. Manage project capture plans, and coordinate proposal preparation activities. Participate at client functions, social events, and conferences in networking with existing and emerging client contacts. Assist in critical Water business development initiatives. The Ideal Candidate will have the following skills: Planning and design experience in potable water treatment facilities, including design experience with preliminary treatment processes such as screening and filtration, secondary treatment processes such as membrane filtration, chemical dosing, and post-treatment disinfection. Solid technical knowledge and skills across the water industry, particularly a strong background in potable water treatment processes, indirect potable water reuse, desalination, and/or advanced oxidation processes. Hands-on experience with water treatment process analysis and troubleshooting, process design, process planning, and process analysis. Detailed understanding of potable water treatment physical-chemical and biological process mechanisms. Strong project management and design management skills specific to treatment facility improvements. Experience with treatment facility construction and commissioning of facility upgrades and new facilities. Familiar with potable water treatment regulations and restrictions. Experience managing clients and supporting business development. Ability to excel in a multidisciplinary team environment as well as independently. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Qualifications 10-12+ years of experience in the potable water treatment design. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited university. Master’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering is preferred. Valid California Professional Engineering license required, or a Professional Engineering license in another state with the ability to obtain a California license within one year preferred.
