SUMMARY

Directs the day-to-day functions of the facility in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern long-term care facilities to assure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to the Facility’s residents at all times.

Develops operational policies, practices, and systems to monitor and implement quality control standards and measurements while ensuring compliance with AHCA, CARF and other regulatory agencies standards and requirements.

Works in conjunction with the Medical Officer on the day-to-day functions of the Facility to implement strategic goals related to the quality improvement and management programs followed by the medical and nursing staff.

Serves as the Facility’s Risk Manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree (BA / BS) from a four-year college or university; and at least one-year related experience preferable in an acute nursing home.

Valid Florida Nursing Home Administrator License

Valid Florida Driver's License

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

SUPERVISORY SKILLS

Supervises Nursing Home Staff. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; apprising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Coordinates all departments in the nursing home.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Assists in the development of facility programs.
  2. Attends and participates in workshops and/or seminars to keep abreast of current changes in the pediatric long-term care sector.
  3. Conducts morning meetings with Medical Officer, Nursing and Respiratory staff to ensure the quality of care of Facility residents.
  4. Coordinates the facility surveys/inspections made by authorized government agencies (AHCA, CARF).
  5. Develops and maintains written policies and procedures that govern the operation of the facility.
  6. Develops disaster plan for the facility.
  7. Ensures that all employees, residents, visitors and the general public follow established policies and procedures.
  8. Ensures that staff remains within facility policy and regulatory guidelines.
  9. Maintains a good public relations program that best serves the interests of the Facility and community alike.
  10. Maintains facility inventory.
  11. Makes presentations to professionals and lay members of the community as requested by the CEO.
  12. Negotiates Facility contracts (e.g. pharmacy, dietary, medical) in conjunction with Medical Officer as directed by the CEO.
  13. Submit Facility operating budgets for approval by the CEO.
  14. Participate and conducts monthly physical inspections with the DON, maintenance, housekeeping, and QI team.
  15. Represents the Facility at community meetings as requested by the CEO.
  16. Review and develop a plan of correction for deficiencies noted during both survey inspections and committee review (e.g. process improvement, quality assurance, and ethics review) in conjunction with the Medical, Program, Operations Officers and CEO.
  17. Reviews the Facility’s policies and procedures with P&P committee and makes necessary changes to assure continued compliance with current regulations.
  18. Visits the facility during night and weekend shifts on a monthly basis.
