Job Description: Provides guidance and consultation to projects and professional co- workers. Applies expert and highly specialized knowledge to gather facts, research and analyze data, and develop conclusions, recommendations and strategies. Leads project teams to accomplish discrete goals and tasks and provides limited supervision.

Job Requirements
- Coordination and Communication
- Fosters engagement between operational and research elements of the Earth system modeling community
- Assists the EPIC program in gathering needs and ideas from the community, and facilitates the transition of innovations to operations and open source applications.
- Facilitates EPIC Program project milestones by coordinating efforts and collaborating with government program managers, project coordinators, and stakeholders to guide deliverables and agreements.
- Communicates professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to coordinate project deliverables across multiple teams, including scheduling stakeholder meetings, developing and distributing meeting notes and presentations, tracking action items, and providing regular progress updates to the EPIC program
- Drafts, facilitates review of and publish public-facing communication materials in concert with the EPIC Program. Such materials may include, but are not limited to: program articles and summaries, stakeholder interviews, press releases, graphics, other media content and possible web content updates.
- Coordinates and develops these materials in collaboration with a strategic communications team.
- Facilitation
- Facilitates meetings, conference planning, and/or workshops on behalf of the EPIC Program and will maintain clear communication (i.e. agendas, objectives, goals, and action items) with all stakeholders ahead of, during, and following the meetings
- Recommends consensus-based solutions and develops associated programmatic materials for a wide range of stakeholders, including those at the executive, management, and technical levels to include the development of meeting agendas and objectives to reach a common goal and programmatic solution.
- Leads and contributes to the writing of community reports and program action items at the conclusion of engagements
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision with a certain degree of creativity and latitude.
- Technical Evaluation and Program Coordination
- Familiar with numerical weather prediction in an Earth system modeling framework
- Coordinates the review of technical project plans and deliverables
- Evaluates and prepares scopes of work and technical performance requirements for system studies and assessments to perform technical analysis of weather-related projects
- Coordinates research activities and awards and supports integration and transition of research into products and services.
- Manages the program to ensure successful completion of tasks on time, within budget, and to agreed-upon levels of quality
Experience: - 8+ years of professional and/or academic experience. Advanced degrees or cerifications may qualify for shorter period of required experience
Education: BA/BS in a relevant scientific or technical field (e.g. atmospheric science, meteorology, computer science)
