Job Description
A Vancouver, Washington-based international company, in business for over 25 years, is seeking a Controller with a minimum of 10 years of experience. The position is based in-office from Vancouver, WA and reports directly to the COO. The position will oversee all aspects of the company's financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, managing financial reporting, preparing budgets and financial statements, analyzing financial data, managing cash flow, and coordinating with external auditors, while also ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations; essentially acting as the primary financial leader within the organization.
Key responsibilities of the Controller may include but are not limited to:
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Performing financial analysis to identify trends and provide insights to management
Reconciling bank statements and accounts receivable/payable
Overseeing the accuracy of financial data
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Developing and managing departmental budgets
Forecasting future financial performance
Monitoring variances between actual results and budget
Accounting Compliance:
Ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Staying updated on relevant financial regulations
Implementing and maintaining internal controls
Cash Flow Management:
Monitoring cash flow projections
Managing accounts receivable and payable processes
Identifying potential cash flow issues and proposing solutions
Audit Coordination:
Coordinating with external auditors during the audit process
Preparing necessary documentation for audits
Team Leadership:
Supervising international accounting staff and manage local warehouse operations
Providing training and development opportunities for team members
Manage HR and Payroll functions
Operations:
Maintain certification in a wide variety of government agencies
Work with overseas offices on timely and accurate reporting
Oversee and manage day to day operations at Vancouver, WA location
Skills and Qualifications for a Controller role:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred
Extensive experience in financial accounting and reporting
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Must be willing and able to jump in and assist with other business needs, as they occur
