About the Company:
We are a fast-growing group of companies in the construction and development sector, including general contracting, site work, equipment rentals, modular buildings, and property development. With several active entities under our ownership, our operations are expanding rapidly and we’re looking for a senior financial leader to bring structure, oversight, and strategy to our financial systems.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced CFO / Head of Accounting to oversee and manage the financial and accounting functions across all of our companies. This is a critical leadership role that will work directly with ownership to provide strategic financial direction, establish and maintain accounting systems, and ensure timely, accurate reporting for decision-making.

This role is hands-on and high-responsibility — ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and understands the complexity of construction-based financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Reporting

Full-cycle accounting oversight for all business entities (AR, AP, GL, payroll, bank recs, journal entries)

Produce monthly and quarterly financial statements for each entity and consolidated reports for ownership

Manage job costing, project accounting, and WIP schedules

Implement and maintain an accurate and organized chart of accounts for multiple companies

Reconcile intercompany transactions

Financial Strategy & Planning

Lead annual budgeting process across all companies

Track cash flow, manage banking relationships, and oversee debt service and financing

Forecast cash requirements for payroll, materials, subcontractors, and operational needs

Provide financial modeling for new acquisitions or expansions

Establish and enforce financial controls and risk management processes

Compliance & Taxes

Ensure compliance with GAAP and tax reporting obligations (1099s, payroll filings, sales tax, etc.)

Coordinate with external CPA firm for tax filings and audits

Maintain documentation for loans, insurance, licensing, and legal matters

Systems & Leadership

Evaluate and upgrade accounting software and digital workflows (e.g., QuickBooks Desktop/Online, Buildertrend, Sage, or similar)

Supervise accounting and admin staff as the team grows

Report directly to the owners and serve as a key member of the leadership team

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)

Minimum 7+ years experience in accounting/finance, with at least 3 years in construction or related industries

Experience managing financials for multiple entities or divisions

Deep understanding of construction accounting principles, including retainage, AIA billing, job costing, WIP reporting

Strong working knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks required; Buildertrend/Sage/Procore a plus)

Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently

Strong communication and leadership skills

Comfortable in a fast-moving, hands-on environment
