About Birdwood Golf

Work is under way for a new era of golf at Birdwood Golf at Boar's Head Resort as it partners with legendary PGA Professional Davis Love III and Love Golf Design (LGD) to create a new golf experience that will include 18 new championship golf holes along with a new six-hole par-3 course and putting course. While serving public golfers, members and guests of Boar's Head Resort, the course will also continue to serve as the home course of the UVA men's and women's teams. Job Overview

The Assistant Golf Professional will be responsible for assisting with the management of daily golf operations, which include managing and tracking play, protecting and controlling assets, supervising golf staff, assisting with all merchandising functions, managing tournaments, teaching lessons, and providing other professional services to ensure an exceptional golf experience.

Some essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

• Provide Boar's Head renowned service to all golf members and guests on a daily basis.
• Assist with Opening and Closing procedures.
• Control and manage play; ensure guest check-in and fee collection in coordination with the starter.
• Supervise and manage the golf operation in a professional and efficient manner in the absence of the Head Golf Professional and Assistant Golf Professional.
• Supervise, schedule and train Outside Service team as directed by the Head Professional.
• Required knowledge of the following: current golf course conditions, playability of the golf course, course management advice, and other golf course related subjects
• Assist with the total operation of the practice facility.
• Provide golf instruction and clinics that is consistent with instructional methods, policies and procedures of the Boar's Head Golf Academy.

In order to be considered, you must meet the following requirements:

• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• At least 5 years previous experience working within the golf industry.
• Class A Member of the PGA or LPGA or Level III Apprentice or comparable
• Experience managing a POS and Tee Time Management system.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, TPP, and GHIN software.
• Proficient in each of the following: teaching, club fitting, tournament operations, cart management, driving range management, rules and Pro Shop operations.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, weekends and nights.
• Proven ability to:
  • Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
  • Prioritize and organize.
  • Resolve problems calmly, using good judgment.Work independently.
  • Understand customer service needs and solve them proactively.
  • Work effectively with managers and co-workers.
  • Work under stress in a fast-paced environment.
