Under the general supervision of the Supervising Librarian II, the incumbent inventories, processes, arranges, and describes archival collections comprising materials in all formats and following professional standards; writes finding aids to aid researchers in the discovery of collection materials; evaluates collections for historical research value and assesses potential use of collection materials for exhibits, research guides, and outreach; provides in-person and remote reference service and assists with requests for permission to use library materials; updates description in catalog records and finding aids to reflect modern terminology with a special emphasis on removing outdated language; evaluates materials for digitization and digitizes materials; and contributes to the State Library’s Digital First initiatives.

This position is headquartered in the City of Sacramento; however, the position may work a hybrid schedule where you work remotely and physically report to the office.
